Education Dear VMHA Member: Your Board of Directors wants to invite your participation in a new initiative being developed as part of our efforts to emphasize and enhance the educational aspects of our club. Your Board has decided to make up to $1000 available to VMHA youth members to support them in their efforts to advance their proficiency in a variety and broad range of disciplines from dressage, competitive trail riding, western reining, competitive driving and carriage pleasure driving, to Class A Morgan Show and Open Show ring competitions. The future of our breed depends on attracting young people to our breed, and in developing the professionals of tomorrow with a loyalty and affiliation with the Morgan breed. These educational discipline grants will provide up to $250.00 per youth per application for furthering their instruction and training in either clinic or private lesson setting. Private lesson instructors must be VMHA, AMHA or another local Morgan club members in order to be eligible for payment as we are trying to ensure some commitment to the Morgan breed. The VMHA Scholarship Committee will accept short narrative applications from youth members about how they would use the grant. Scholarships will be awarded twice per year and presented at the March Potluck and at Vermont Morgan Heritage Days. These awards are not based solely on financial need or on Youth club participation, but on the ability and potential of a youth to excel in a discipline. In beginning this initiative we anticipate that there will be more interest than we have funds which is why we want to ask for your help not only in recruiting youth to our breed, but in funding the initiative. Earmarked donations to the Youth Discipline Support Grant Program will be welcomed and recognized when grants are made and at the VMHA annual meeting, on the club website, and in the Club Newsletter. |
