Mexican Talavera ceramic is the result of a mixture of cultures over time. Initially, the Spaniards were influenced by Arabic pottery. They brought it with them to Mexico. The mixture of these cultures resulted in this beautiful ceramic art. This ceramic triple-toggle switch plate is a great present-time example of the exquisite beauty Mexican craftsmen put into each item they create.The ceramic is fired at high temperatures to give it its hardness. Most of the Talavera ceramic items are first hand-painted with a white coat. The decoration is then drawn over the first coat of paint. You may find that it has some imperfections, due to its hand-made nature, but it is what makes it all the more unique. Because the switch plate is handcrafted and hand-painted, no two switch plates are the same! There may be small variations in size, weight and even the paintings.This switch plate makes for a unique accent to any hacienda, country, or southwestern style home.
